Moldovan president says peace country's choice, Moldova moves firmly towards European Union
President Maia Sandu has conveyed a strong message of unity and clarity amidst a context marked by external disinformation and manipulation attempts.
The head of state warned about the boosting of information attacks aimed at destabilizing the society and affecting the country's European course.
"The disinformation labs are running at full throttle. On the next period, lies will flow abundantly from the Kremlin's trumpets, just to grab Moldova and put it under the control of foreign interests," said Maia Sandu, referring to the disinformation campaigns directly targeting the country's institutions and leaders.
The Moldovan president categorically dismissed speculations that Moldova intends to get involved in a military conflict or violate its neutral status.
"In Moldova, there is peace, and there will be peace as long as we stand firm on the European path," said Sandu. She emphasized that only the integration into the European Union provided real guarantees of stability, security and sustainable development for all citizens.
In the same message, the head of state reiterated that the war brought by Russian aggression in Ukraine was a direct threat to democratic values and the right of peoples to determine their own future.
"This inhuman war violates namely the right to choose – it is brought from outside to destroy life. Peace is a choice. And it is our choice," highlighted the head of state.
Maia Sandu called for unity and vigilance, urging citizens not to fall into the trap of hatred, fear and division, promoted by forces hostile to the democratic course.
"Moldova has decided – the European Union will be our common home. Moldovans have entrusted me with the responsibility to maintain peace and together lead Moldova into the EU," Maia Sandu added.
