Intervention measures in case of complex weather conditions: CNMC convened coordination meeting with relevant institutions

The National Crisis Management Centre (CNMC) convened a coordination meeting with the relevant institutions in order to prevent and manage potential risks, in the context of the weather forecast for 4–8 February 2026, characterized by fluctuations between positive and negative temperatures, with an increased risk of precipitation and ice formation.

Following the meeting, the CNMC ordered the implementation of several measures. Thus, the National Police and the General Inspectorate of Carabineers will ensure active patrolling of national routes immediately after the onset of bad weather conditions, in order to provide the necessary support to road traffic participants. In case of blockages, they will intervene to ease traffic and to promptly inform the population about the situation.

At the same time, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the National Road Administration will ensure the usability of national roads, including through the application of anti-skid materials, depending on the evolution of weather conditions.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defence will provide, upon request, support to local public authorities in the most affected or dangerous areas, including to ensure access to critical facilities and to protect the population.

The Ministry of Energy will inform the population in a timely manner about power outages and reconnections, will implement, if necessary, the contingency plan, and will communicate recommendations specific to the situation.

Similarly, the Ministry of Health will ensure the mobilization of medical services and operative measures for the continuity of medical care and prompt intervention when needed.

The Ministry of Education and Research will communicate in advance any decisions regarding the modification of the activity schedule of educational institutions, depending on how the situation develops.

The Border Police and the Customs Service will inform the population about the way documents are processed at the border, including in the event of malfunctions of information systems.

The CNMC urges the population to follow the official websites of public authorities and responsible institutions for updated information and sector-specific measures, depending on the evolution of the situation.
