Labor, Social Protection Ministry launches Family program
Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Families with children will benefit from additional support from the state within the Family program. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari launched the initiative. He presented the actions and categories of citizens included in the package of measures.
The minister announced the creation of familia.gov.md website, where information about the program, the support provided and the necessary contact details will be presented. "We want to be with parents, as children are our priority. Thus, starting in October, parents will receive 1000 lei each month, until the child is two years old. This support will be additional to the one-off allowance received at birth and will be paid regardless of whether the parents were socially insured or had social contributions. 63 thousand children will benefit from that support, with a budget of 76 million lei (about 3.8 million euros) earmarked for this year," said Marcel Spatari.
Also, the monthly benefit will be increased from 370 lei to 500 lei for raising up to the age of three for twins or several children born from a single pregnancy. At the same time, the minister said that in September, the parent will be able to opt for an allowance of 90% of the salary for the last 12 months, if he chooses to take it until the child is one year and two months old.
The official said that 25 thousand children will be able to benefit from an allowance of up to 4,000 lei, if the family needs support for the care/treatment of the sick child, or there is a need to prevent risky situations. "In order to benefit from this amount, it is necessary for people to contact the territorial social structure. We are preparing a Regulation for young families through which we will grant more options for raising and caring for the child. It is about the creation of family-type mini nurseries, which can be attended by children from the age of four months. The legal framework in this sense is to be implemented in 2023. At the same time, new options will be created so that parents can benefit from a flexible work schedule to be able to take care of the child", said Marcel Spatari.
The minister noted that thanks to the support provided by UNICEF Moldova, additional help will be given to children in difficulty in September 2022 - September 2023. Thus, starting from this month, the monthly allowance will be increased from 1,400 to 2,074 lei for 1,056 children in foster care in the professional parental assistance service and family-type homes. At the same time, the measure provides for the granting of an aid of 1,000 lei per month to professional parental assistants and parent educators, and children with disabilities or those left without a supporter will receive one-off aid of 1,500 lei. He urged citizens to turn to the territorial social assistance structures to benefit from the aid approved under the Family Program.
