Light snow, icy roads across Moldova; authorities urge drivers to exercise caution

Road traffic is taking place under increased risk conditions in more regions of Moldova, where light snow is being recorded and ice is forming on the roadway, the National Road Administration warns. The situation is monitored nationally and road maintenance operations are carried out throughout the day.

According to the authority, road workers are deployed in the field and are carrying out preventive anti-skid operations, in order to ensure the safety of road users. Interventions are being conducted in more localities, including in the districts of Glodeni, Criuleni, Rezina, Briceni, and Falesti.

At the same time, a Yellow Warning for glaze ice and road ice has been issued for the period February 4-6. Air temperatures close to 0 degrees Celsius, combined with precipitation in the form of rain or snow, are favoring the formation of glaze ice and ice on the roadway.

In the context, the National Road Administration recommends that drivers adapt their speed to road conditions, maintain a safe distance between vehicles and avoid risky maneuvers. The authorities emphasize that complying with these measures is essential for preventing road accidents.

For up-to-date information on road conditions or to request the intervention of snow removal teams, citizens can call the National Road Administration’s Operational Service 24/7 at (+373) 78 337 744 and (+373) 60 477 117.

National routes are under constant surveillance and intervention teams remain mobilized to maintain the safety and operability of the roads’ network.
