MEC: Educational institutions to decide whether students to attend classes on Monday

Educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova may apply a special schedule for classes, including online learning, on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to difficult weather conditions caused by freezing rain and ice.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MoER), educational institutions and local specialized authorities are encouraged to assess the specific situation of each school and decide how to organize the educational process, depending on the existing conditions.

The authorities state that decisions must prioritize the safety and health of students and teaching staff, in the context of risks associated with travel in icy conditions.

These recommendations come against the backdrop of warnings issued by the authorities regarding unfavorable weather conditions in several regions of the country, which may affect road and pedestrian traffic, as well as safe access to educational institutions.
