Modernized ePrescription system in Moldova: patients receive reimbursed medication faster
The information system, ePrescription for reimbursed medications and medical devices, has been modernized, providing patients with faster access to treatments and reducing bureaucracy for physicians. The modernization was achieved with the support of the European Union, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), by implementing 14 new features.
According to the Health Ministry, the new tools allow doctors to enter medical data more easily, including multiple diagnoses on the same prescription, reduce prescription errors and automatically apply reimbursement caps and rules. Patients can use prescriptions at more visits to drug stores, without restrictions. At the same time, security and anti-fraud measures have been strengthened, and the reimbursement process to the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) has been optimized.
Simultaneously, the cervical screening module within the Automated Information System, Primary Medical Assistance, (SIA AMP) has been improved through automatic notifications to eligible individuals through the MNotify governmental platform. This functionality supports early disease detection and the prevention of cervical cancer.
The Health Ministry and CNAM emphasize that health digitalization contributes to prevention, enhances medical efficiency and facilitates more accessible services for citizens. Authorities will continue to automate medical processes, in order to cover as many public health domains and services as possible.
