Moldova, Poland consider possibility of concluding new intergovernmental agreement in defense sector

Moldova and Poland are considering, in perspective, the possibility of concluding a new intergovernmental agreement in the field of defense, which would reflect the current security environment and deepen cooperation between the two defense institutions. The topic was addressed during a working visit to Warsaw by Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii, who had a meeting with his counterpart Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The two officials discussed the prospects for strengthening Moldovan-Polish cooperation in the military field.

During the meeting, Anatolie Nosatii appreciated Poland’s constant support in the process of training and professional development of the National Army’s personnel in relevant Polish institutions, as well as its contribution to the modernization of military education.

The dialogue also focused on issues related to the regional security situation, marked by the Russian Federation’s war in Ukraine and the intensification of hybrid threats, the European path of Moldova and the democratic reforms implemented.

At the same time, the officials referred to Moldova’s cooperation with external partners in the field of defense and the importance of Poland’s promotion of the country’s strategic objectives at the level of the international community.

In conclusion, the parties reconfirmed their commitment to developing the partnership through new projects that will contribute to the modernization of the country’s defense and security sector and, respectively, to enhancing resilience to modern challenges.

In Warsaw, the Moldovan defense minister took part in the plenary session at the Presidential Palace and in the wreath-laying ceremony by President Maia Sandu at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The official also visited, together with the members of the delegation, the Katyń Massacre Museum.

Anatolie Nosatii was part of the delegation led by President of Moldova, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Maia Sandu, who paid an official visit to Poland on January 25–26, this year.
