Moldovans living in France to receive pensions, other social benefits under new bilateral agreement

Citizens of Moldova who live and work in France will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits following the ratification by the Parliament of the Social Security Agreement signed between the two countries.

The agreement provides a clear social protection framework for Moldovan migrant workers from France, as well as for French citizens residing in Moldova.

The provisions apply to employees, self-employed individuals, seconded workers, as well as staff of diplomatic and consular missions. Moldovans in France will be able to access old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by common illness, and survivor pensions, based on the proportional principle: each state will pay the portion of the pension corresponding to the period worked on its territory.

The agreement was signed in Paris on March 10, 2025, and it is meant to  complement a string of similar agreements concluded by Moldova with 18 other countries to date.
