About 1,400 young people to be called up for mandatory military service in Moldova
About 1,400 young people will be called up for mandatory military service in the National Army in April-June, this year. Another 10 will perform military service with a shortened term. The government approved a draft to this end today.
Under the draft, the conscription process is conducted in stages, based on a plan developed and approved by the Ministry of Defense.
On the same period, the young people who were called up for mandatory military service during April — July 2024 will be demobilized.
Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii emphasized that performing the mandatory military service was an important step in educating young people as responsible citizens.
“Besides the legal obligation, performing the mandatory military service is an important step in educating young people as responsible citizens. Through this experience, they learn discipline, team spirit and respect for fundamental values,” said the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii.
According to the legislation, the conscription campaign takes place twice a year, in April-July and, respectively, October-January.
