Moldovans working in Ukraine to be able to receive pensions, other social benefits
Moldovans working in Ukraine will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits. The second round of negotiations on the Social Security Agreement with Ukraine takes place on these days.
Experts from relevant Ukrainian authorities and representatives of institutions from Moldova, including the National Social Insurance House, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Council for Determining Work Disability and Capacity, participate in the negotiations.
According to the authorities, the social security agreement between Moldova and Ukraine will significantly impact the social protection system, offering extended social guarantees for individuals who have worked in both countries.
“The negotiation of this agreement is an important step in ensuring an adequate framework for social protection in the context of increased labor mobility. The document will facilitate citizens' access to pensions and other social rights, regardless of their domicile, showing our commitment to a social security system tailored to the current needs of citizens,” said Cristina Jandîc, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The main benefits of the agreement include the right to pension, regardless of place of residence and contribution period in either of the two states, through the enforcement of the principle of totalization. Thus, insured persons will receive proportional pensions, based on the contribution periods in each country, with the pension amount being provided in the country of residence.
So far, Moldova has signed 19 agreements in the field of social security with Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Austria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey, Belarus, Greece, Italy, Spain, Latvia and France.
