Moldovan president conveys message on World Environment Day

Each of us must contribute to protecting our forests, waters and soils, so we can leave future generations a greener and healthier country. President Maia Sandu has delivered a message to this effect on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

The head of state emphasized that the World Environment Day was a good opportunity to reflect together on the responsibility we have to respond to the challenges brought by climate change and to use natural resources prudently and carefully.

“The capricious weather in recent times has reminded us of the impact the nature has on our lives. The World Environment Day is a good opportunity to reflect together on the responsibility we have to respond to the challenges brought by climate change and to use natural resources prudently and carefully. Each of us must contribute to protecting our forests, waters and soils, so we can leave future generations a greener and healthier country,” said President Maia Sandu.

The World Environment Day is annually marked on June 5. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. Over the last five decades, the World Environment Day has become one of the largest global platforms for environmental advocacy. Tens of millions of people take part online and through activities, events and actions around the world.
