State to come up with clear support measures for people - Moldovan government spokesman says
Chisinau, Jan. 2 /MOLDPRES/ - On the right bank of the Dniester, we have electricity and gas thanks to responsible decisions that we have taken together. To make it clear for everyone: in addition to our own resources, electricity, heat and gas come to us from Romania, Ukraine and the European market. Government spokesman Daniel Voda made the statement today.
Moldovans, state institutions and Moldovan companies pay for these resources and have no debts.
"Through savings, without waste and with discipline, we will get through this winter. Russia, through Gazprom, is trying to blackmail us, is keeping the people of the Transnistrian region in the cold and distributing disinformation, blaming its own subsidiary for debts invalidated by an international audit. It is time to look forward, to be strong and show that Moldova is building its future on values, not on fear," Voda said.
He noted that ANRE will soon announce the adjustments for electricity prices, and the authorities, as requested by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, will immediately come up with clear measures to support people, and next week - business.
"We will also discuss with local authorities the situation in the regions. Under the state of emergency, we have all the levers at our disposal. CSE is constantly collecting information on the situation across the country and the government cell is ensuring a coordinated response in the energy sector. The authorities leave no one behind. Our economy, the discipline of every Moldovan and unity will get us through this winter. No blackmail and no bickering. Because we all support each other," Vodă concluded.
As of 1 January 2025, MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant will no longer supply electricity to the right bank of the Dniester, after Gazprom announced that it would stop gas deliveries.
Under these circumstances, Chisinau authorities announced that, as of January 2025, the electricity consumption needs of the Republic of Moldova (right bank of the Dniester River) will be supplied by local production and imports from Romania.
