TOP 5 priorities of Moldova's Defense Ministry in 2026: security, international cooperation, protection of military personnel

The development of defense capabilities, investments in the National Army, social protection of military personnel and combating disinformation are among the main priorities of the Defense Ministry for the 2026 year, Minister Anatolie Nosatii has said in an exclusive interview with MOLDPRES.

The defense chief says that, in 2026, the authorities will continue to strengthen the real defense capabilities of Moldova, so that the state can react quickly and effectively in the face of any threat.

“I want Moldova to have real defense and rapid reaction capabilities in the face of any threat. We will continue investments in the development of the National Army, as well as in strengthening cooperation with international partners, aiming at integration into the European security architecture,” said Nosatii.

According to the official, a distinct priority will stay the social protection of military personnel and their families. The minister emphasized that a well-motivated staff was essential for the efficiency of a professional army; that is why, service conditions, access to training and professional development opportunities will be improved. Additionally, solutions will be identified to increase military personnel’s salaries.

In the year 2026, the Defense Ministry intends to initiate amendments to the legislation on the preparation of Armed Forces reserves and the mobilization process, to adapt the legal framework to new security realities.

Anatolie Nosatii also said that the institution would maintain open and transparent communication with society, so that citizens are correctly informed about the activities of the National Army and its role. Combating disinformation remains a priority to strengthen public confidence in the army as a responsible institution ready to defend the country and its citizens.

“We all want peace and quiet, as well as a stable, prosperous and European future,” emphasized the defense minister.
