Traffic on more streets from Moldovan capital to be restricted during visit by India’s President

Access to certain public places from the Chisinau municipality will be temporarily limited on July 20, between 07:00 and 22:00, in the context of the official visit to Moldova by President of India Droupadi Murmu. The restrictions will target the city center and the main traffic arteries connecting to the Chisinau International Airport.

According to the Chisinau City Hall, the measure was ordered by the police, in order to ensure that the visit of the Indian head of state takes place under appropriate security conditions.

During the restrictions, access to certain public spaces will be limited, as will the organization of gatherings and mass events, as well as the carrying out of road repairs, works on power and heating networks and on water supply and sewerage systems. Tree cleaning and cutting works will also be suspended within the perimeter of the streets along which the official motorcade will move.

The authorities specify that the restrictions do not apply to social and cultural events for which prior notifications have been submitted and which have been coordinated with the Chisinau City Hall and other competent institutions.

The General Police Inspectorate and the Chisinau Municipal Police Directorate will ensure public order and will inform individuals and legal entities who organize or intend to organize gatherings in the affected areas about the provisions of the decision issued by the municipal authorities.

President of India Droupadi Murmu will visit Moldova on July 20, 2026. This is the first visit by an Indian head of state to the country since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and India on March 20, 1992.
