VIDEO // First 42 rural families of Moldova energy renovate homes with EU support
The first 42 rural families energy renovated their homes in 2025 with the support of the European Union. Another 80 households are in the contracting stage of the works.
The actions are carried out under the governmental programme Energy Efficiency Fund in the Residential Sector of Moldova (FEERM).
The most common works include: thermal insulation of exterior walls; installation of modern heating systems; installation of solid biofuel plants; thermal insulation of the roof and basement.
“Through these interventions, families have managed to significantly reduce energy consumption, lower monthly heating invoices and enjoy more comfortable homes,” said the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
The FEERM programme is managed by CNED and is part of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Moldova (E4M) project, developed by the government of Moldova with the financial support of the European Union and other international partners: Germany, Norway and Denmark.
In total, up to 180 houses will benefit from energy renovations under the programme.
