VIDEO // “WeRemember” projected on Moldovan parliament's façade in memory of Holocaust victims

The message, “WeRemember,” was projected onto the façade of the Moldovan parliament building as a tribute to the more than six million victims of the Holocaust worldwide. In this way, the legislature has once again joined the international campaign to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust.

Today, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, also took part in the national rally for the Commemoration of Holocaust Victims, held in Chisinau. The event took place at the Memorial to the Victims of Fascism and brought together the country’s top leadership, representatives of public authorities, as well as members of Jewish and Roma communities.

Alongside Igor Grosu, the rally was attended by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan and other officials, who emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the victims and warned that oblivion and indifference can enable the repetition of tragedies that have profoundly marked the history of this land.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is annually marked on January 27, the date that coincides with the 1945 liberation of prisoners from the Auschwitz concentration camp. The Holocaust led to the extermination of millions of Jews, Roma and other groups persecuted by the Nazi regime.

This day was established by the United Nations in 2005, and Moldova has officially marked it since 2015, reaffirming its commitment to promoting remembrance, tolerance and respect for human rights.
