Yellow Code of fog warning in Moldova: widespread reduced visibility till February 14 noon
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has issued a Yellow Code weather warning for fog, valid across the entire territory of Moldova. The warning comes into force starting February 13, at 13:00 and will stay in effect until February 14, at 12:00.
According to meteorologists, dense fog will persist over large areas and visibility will drop to 200 meters and even below this value. The phenomenon will affect especially mornings and nights, but it may also persist during the day in some regions.
"Dense fog creates hazardous conditions, especially for road traffic. Reduced visibility can lead to an increased risk of road accidents; difficulties in traveling on national and local routes; delays in public and intercity transport," SHS indicates.
Authorities recommend that drivers exercise increased caution, reduce speed, use low beam headlights and where appropriate, fog lights, and avoid risky overtaking.
Pedestrians are urged to cross only at designated places and to wear reflective elements, especially outside localities.
