Moldovan young people supported by diaspora professionals through Youth Compass mentoring program

FACLIA public association, with the support of the German Government and GIZ Moldova is launching Youth Compass mentoring program, a pilot initiative aimed at connecting young people from the Republic of Moldova with Moldovan professionals living abroad. The program's goal is professional guidance, skill development and supporting the integration of youth into the labor market.

Over three months (September - November), at least 50 young people will benefit from individual online sessions with volunteer mentors from the diaspora, specialists in fields such as IT, entrepreneurship, education, engineering, marketing, arts, and green economy. Participants will work with three different mentors, following a structured path that includes professional orientation, digital and soft skills development, financial education and basic entrepreneurial skills.

Besides the mentoring sessions, the program will include networking events that will bring together mentors, young people, employers, and organizations from the public and private sectors, aiming to transform connections into concrete career opportunities. Mentors will be prepared through a 40-hour training course developed by EMCC Romania, with the possibility of obtaining international certification.

'The program aims to give these young people confidence, practical skills, and a real perspective on opportunities in their communities. Mentors bring international experience home and, through practical activities, workshops, career orientation sessions, and socialization, help the youth be better prepared for their first job or initiating entrepreneurial projects. Through this program, we are investing not only in education and personal development but also in Moldova's future, building bridges between our youth and global expertise. Together, we can contribute to forming successful careers and stronger communities both economically and socially,' estimated Eugeniu Scorțescu, outreach advisor, GIZ Moldova.

The program is aimed at young people across the country, with a focus on the districts of Soroca, Edineț, Ungheni, Orhei, Cahul, and the municipality of Bălți, as well as Moldovan professionals in the diaspora who wish to get involved. Registrations are done online on the official website: www.busola.md.

This initiative aims not only to prepare young people for the labor market but also to create a solid connection between the international experience of the diaspora and the potential of the young generation in the Republic of Moldova.
