About 470 young teachers assigned to work at educational institutions of Moldova
A total of 468 young teachers in 2026 have been assigned to educational institutions across Moldova, following two stages of the placement competition organized by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC). This is the highest number recorded so far in the placement programme.
According to the MEC, the number is already higher than the one registered throughout the entire previous year. In 2025, after all five placement stages, 429 young specialists entered the system. Thus, after only two stages organized this year, their number is approximately 9 per cent higher than the total recorded in 2025.
Most of the young specialists will work as early education teachers (educators) – 87 and primary school teachers – 77. Another 40 chose to teach English, 38 – music education, 36 – Romanian language and literature, 33 – mathematics and 31 – physical education. At the same time, 31 specialists will work in the fields of psycho-pedagogy, psychology and speech therapy, while 25 will teach history.
The young specialists are being placed in educational institutions throughout the entire country. Of the 468 assigned graduates, 186 will work in the Chisinau municipality, 25 – in the municipality of Balti, and 257 – in the districts of the country and in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun noted that the results of the placement competition confirm that the teaching profession was becoming more attractive and that the support measures introduced by the ministry were beginning to produce results.
“We have 468 young people assigned after just two stages. This is a signal that the teaching profession is becoming more attractive and that the support measures we have introduced are starting to produce results. We want young people who choose education to have not only the motivation to enter the system, but also the conditions to stay, to develop professionally and to build a career here,” said Dan Perciun.
MEC data show that, in recent years, there has been a constant increase in the number of young specialists entering the education system. Thus, while in 2022 there were 296 young specialists assigned, their number increased to 365 in 2023, 404 in 2024 and 429 in 2025. In 2026, after the first two stages, the figure has reached 468.
To encourage graduates to choose the teaching profession and remain in the system, the MEC has expanded support measures for young specialists in recent years. Young people who take jobs in schools and kindergartens receive a one-time allowance of up to 375,000 lei and a reduced teaching load of 75 per cent during their first five years of work. They also receive compensation for teaching materials, while those working in rural areas and district centers benefit from support to cover housing and utility costs.
