Sheriff Tiraspol team defeats champion of Faroe Islands, qualifies for Europa League groups
Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s football champion, Sheriff Tiraspol team, has qualified for the Europa League groups the second year in a row, after it defeated with the score 2:1 the champion of the Faroe Islands, KÍ Klaksvík in a return match.
The match took place on the Sheriff Stadium in Tiraspol on 31 August.
In Europa League’s play-off, held on 24 August, Sheriff tied the away match with the team KÍ Klaksvík with the score 1:1.
Thus, the Tiraspol footballers gained the 50th victory in Europa and player Luvannor scored the goal number 150 of Sheriff in the European cups. Zahouri scored the second goal for Sheriff.
According to the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF), the drawing of lots for the Europa League groups will take place today at 16:00.
