Moldova is full of nice places which are worth being visited. One of these places is the Monastery and cascades from Saharna.

Placed 110 km north from Chisinau, on the right bank of the Dniester river, the Holy Trinity Monastery from Saharna is, for good reason, regarded as one of the biggest centres of religious pilgrimages from Moldova. Here, one can find unique in Moldova relics of Saint Macarie and on one of the crags – the foot imprint of the Mother of Good, according to a legend.

Exceptional landscapes are opened from crags of the Saharna village: rocky and afforested narrow strait of the small river Saharna (with a length of 16 km), which flows over 30 thresholds and cascades.

Also here, one can find an important archaeological station with vestiges from the Iron Age (10th -8th centuries B.C) and a real estate Geto-Dacian fortress (4th-3rd centuries B.C.), one of the most conserved fortresses from Moldova.

From Monastery’s history

The Saharna Monastery, on the whole, is one of the oldest monastic formations of the Orthodox Church from Moldova. The monastic complex is made up of two monasteries: one rupestrian monastery (Annunciation) and other land one (Holy Trinity).

How can one go the Saharna Monastery?

Setting out in Chisinau, the travel to the Saharna Monastery last about two hours. The first segment of the road is very good and the road beyond Orhei is very good as well.

Saharna is a village placed in the Saharna Noua commune from the northern Rezina district, Moldova.

The village is situated at a distance of about 110 km north from Chisinau, on the right bank of the Dniester river, at an altitude of 28 metres above the sea level.
