Water supply system inaugurated in northern district locality of Moldova
Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ – There is access to tap water in village Japca, Floresti district, after it was inaugurated a new water supply system on 24 May. The construction and installation was possible due to the support of the Swiss Water and Sanitation Project in Moldova (ApaSan) within the framework of a large regional development programme implemented by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord).
"The objective of bringing drinking water to households of citizens has become a national priority, and such projects have to be multiplied across the country," said Moldovan MP, Eugeniu Nichiforciuc, at inauguration ceremony. At his turn, head of the Environmental Protection Inspectorate (IPM), Gheorghe Manjeru, representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment (MADRM), specified the importance of quality water in daily life and urged villagers to consume water with care.
The construction and assembly works of the water supply system of village Japca were carried out within project: Water for life in the North Region: Floresti and Soroca, implemented by ADR Nord.
It was built a water catchment system in Japca village from a spring nearby locality, with an adventure of 2.93 km. Also, among the built objects, there are: a water tank (50 m3) drinking water distribution networks with a length of 12.65 km and a pumping station (17 m3/h). Simultaneously, there were installed 11 hydrants on the locality territory and there were built 39 sewage and drainage areas. The flow of the spring from Japca (550 m3/day) allows the supply of drinking water to two or three rural localities.
The value of water supply system in Japca amounts to MDL 7.31 million, out of which the sum of 6.54 million was allocated through the Swiss Water and Sanitation Project in Moldova, and the amount of MDL 159 thousand is the contribution of the local public administration (APL) and MDL 612 thousand – contribution of inhabitants.
Japca locality is part of the 11 localities benefiting from project: Water for Life in the Northern Region: Floresti and Soroca districts, developed by ADR Nord in partnership with the Moldova Branch of the SKAT Foundation, ApaSan Project Implementing Partner, S.A. Servicii Comunale Floresti and partner cities. The project total budget is estimated at MDL 66.86 million, aut of which MDL 29.90 million are requested from the sources of the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR) and the amount of MDL 30.4 million represents the ApaSan's co – financing. Also, the sum of MDL 4.73 million of the project total budget represents contribution of beneficiary population, MDL 1.42 million –contribution of S.A. Servicii Comunale Floresti, operator of systems, and MDL 0.417 million – contribution of local public administrations (APL). From the FNDR, there are funded subprojects for localities Bahrinesti, Cuhurestii de Sus and Cuhurestii de Jos. Similarly, the ApaSan Project provided support to ensure access to quality water services in localities Zaluceni, Targul – Vertiujeni, Vertiujeni and Japca.
