Chisinau to host two concerts organised by embassies of Germany, Poland
Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Two concerts will be organized in Chisinau on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighbourhood and Friendly Cooperation between Germany and Poland, which took place in Bonn on 17 June 1991.
At a news conference today, Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Ulrike Knotz said that these events were meant to emphasize the importance of the peaceful cooperation of the states.
“The concerned treaty is very important for both countries, as it laid the foundations of close relations and cohesion points were created during time between non-governmental youth organizations, as well as on the economic, social, cultural, dimensions, etc. At the same time, these cultural events will honour also a former mayor of Chisinau of German origin, Carol Schmidt, who marks the 170th birthday anniversary on 25 June,” Ulrike Knotz said.
For his part, Polish Ambassador to Moldova Artur Michalski said the aforementioned treaty “has a universal connotation and tangentially refers to Moldova as well.”
“The treaty signed 25 years ago served as a foundation for the integration of Germany and Poland into the central and western Europe, which contributed to the development of the subsequent bilateral ties. On this occasion, we want to share these important moments also with Moldova’s citizens, who make efforts to integrate into the European community,” Michalski added.
The first concert, during which jazz music will be interpreted, will take place on the square outside the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic on 24 June. The second concert, “Diplomatie pe note” (Diplomacy on sounds) will take place at the Open Air Theatre from Chisinau on 26 June, with only classic music due to be interpreted.
