Exhibition of illustrations by Moldovan fine artist opened in Chisinau
Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of book illustrations titled, The artist watching the world with smile, by painter, sketcher, caricaturist, laureate of the IBBY Honorary Diploma Sergiu Puica has been inaugurated at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the library’s director, Eugenia Bejan, said that the event had taken place within the Week of Reading Books for Children, held at the Library on 1-7 April.
According to Bejan, the exhibition includes illustrations made for volumes of tales, books for children signed by native authors, a magazine, as well as several portraits-sarje of more writers of Moldova.
Sergiu Puica was born in the Seliste village, central Nisporeni district on 11 August 1956. He studied at the Alexandru Plamadeala Republican College of Fine Arts and at the Music, theatre and Fine Arts Academy from Chisinau. Puica dedicated his creation activity to the illustration of book, easel graphic, as well as scenography.
In 2004, Sergiu Puica was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) for the illustration of the book, My First Dictionary, by Ioan Manascurta.
