Three localities in Anenii Noi district decide to merge
The villages of Geamăna, Zolotievca and Ochiul Roș in Anenii Noi district have chosen the path of voluntary amalgamation, forming a stronger town hall capable of managing community issues more efficiently and providing higher quality public services to residents.
According to the Government, the new local administration will receive financial incentives of over 13 million lei, funds intended for infrastructure investments, the development of public services and the implementation of projects that will help improve living conditions.
The new administrative structure will bring together approximately 3,400 residents. The village of Geamăna has a population of 2,436 people, Zolotievca has 807 residents, and Ochiul Roș about 192 residents.
At present, around 800 town halls in the Republic of Moldova are involved in the voluntary amalgamation process, and local councils have approved more than 600 decisions to initiate the procedure. The process of reforming local public administration was officially launched by the Government at the end of January, after a series of consultations with local authorities and other stakeholders.
Subsequently, the reform concept was presented, aiming to modernize administration and increase the efficiency of public services. Recently, Parliament approved legislative amendments designed to simplify and improve the voluntary amalgamation process of administrative-territorial units. The changes were developed following public consultations in which more than 4,500 mayors and citizens participated.
