Eugeniu Osmochescu: We will continue to work for good of country and to fulfill our commitments

Together with the governmental team, we will continue to work for the good of the country and to fulfill our commitments. The message was delivered by Eugeniu Osmochescu after President Maia Sandu signed the decree appointing him as Acting Prime Minister.

Eugeniu Osmochescu thanked for the trust and emphasized that he accepted this responsibility "with honor and full seriousness." According to the official, in the coming period his priority will be to ensure the continuity of the Government’s activity, maintain institutional stability, and promote the decisions necessary in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

"In accordance with the decree signed by President Maia Sandu on ensuring the interim exercise of the office of Prime Minister, I have accepted this responsibility with honor and full seriousness. I thank the President for the trust and my colleagues in the Government for their support. During this period, my priority will be to ensure the continuity of the Government’s activity, to maintain institutional stability, and to promote the decisions necessary in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Together with the governmental team, we will continue to work for the good of the country and to fulfill our commitments. Thank you for your trust," declared Eugeniu Osmochescu.

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today signed the decree appointing Eugeniu Osmochescu as Acting Prime Minister. He will exercise the duties of head of Government starting from 8 July 2026 until a new Cabinet is formed. According to the legislation, Eugeniu Osmochescu will ensure the leadership of the Government during the transition period, after former Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced his resignation.

This week, the head of state is to hold consultations with the parliamentary factions for the nomination of a candidate for the office of Prime Minister. Subsequently, the nominated candidate must present to Parliament the governing program and the list of the future Cabinet of Ministers in order to obtain a vote of confidence.
