Energocom started preparations for 2026–2027 cold season by booking natural gas transport capacities
Energocom company has started preparations for 2026–2027 cold season by participating in the annual auction for booking natural gas transport capacities at the Ungheni interconnection point. The procedure covers the gas year from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027 and represents an important step in planning the supply of natural gas to the Republic of Moldova.
According to the company, early booking of transport capacities makes it possible to ensure the delivery of natural gas under efficient logistical conditions and at the most advantageous available tariffs.
Within the auction, the Romanian gas transmission operator S.A. "Transgaz" offered a capacity of 57.436 thousand MWh per day at the Ungheni interconnection point for a one-year period. Out of this capacity, active suppliers booked 41.37%.
Vestmoldtransgaz company put up for auction a capacity of 58.436 thousand MWh per day for the entry point into the Republic of Moldova. Suppliers booked 38.57% of the available volume.
Energocom explains that auctions for transport capacity are the mechanism through which transmission system operators allocate available pipeline space to gas traders. Long-term bookings, including annual ones, are the most cost-effective, followed by monthly, daily and intra-day bookings.
The company notes that it monitors the evolution of prices on regional markets on a daily basis and adapts its procurement strategy according to market conditions, in order to ensure an efficient, transparent and responsible process of natural gas supply during the cold season.
