Deputy Prime Minister meets Head of Council of Europe Office in Chișinău
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs had a meeting today with Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău Falk Lange, on the conclusion of mandate in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on the results of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, as well as on the continuation of democratic reforms and the country’s European path.
During the meeting, Mihai Popșoi thanked Falk Lange for his contribution to strengthening the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe and the support in promoting democratic reforms.
“Your mandate coincided with one of the most important periods in the recent history of the Republic of Moldova. The support and expertise of the Council of Europe have contributed to strengthening the rule of law, human rights, and democratic institutions, and the results of this cooperation have brought the Republic of Moldova closer to its strategic objective of accession to the European Union. We thank you for the professionalism and commitment with which you have supported these efforts,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The officials reviewed the main results of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, including the implementation of reforms supported through the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025–2028.
At the same time, the two officials reaffirmed the importance of continuing the dialogue on advancing the Republic of Moldova towards the post-monitoring stage within the Council of Europe and making full use of the organization’s expertise in the process of European integration.
For his part, Falk Lange praised the cooperation with the authorities in Chișinău and the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in recent years, expressing his confidence that the partnership between the two sides will continue to contribute to strengthening democratic institutions and implementing reforms.
