Speaker participates in meeting of speakers of parliaments from EU candidate countries
Speaker Igor Grosu is taking part in the inaugural Conference of Speakers of Parliaments from countries that are candidates for accession to the European Union, held in Belgrade, Serbia.
The event brings together the heads of legislatures from EU candidate states to discuss the common challenges and opportunities of the accession process, the exchange of experience and best practices, as well as the strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation in support of European integration.
The main topic of the conference is European integration in a changing geopolitical context. Participants will examine the role of parliaments in promoting the reforms required for accession and will lay the foundations for a permanent platform for dialogue, coordination, and mutual support at parliamentary level.
On the sidelines of the event, Grosu will hold bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić.
The conference is organized at the initiative of the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and represents the first meeting of its kind dedicated to strengthening cooperation among the parliaments of states that are candidates for accession to the European Union.
