Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ – The well known folk musician Nicolae Ciubotaru, lead singer of folk music orchestra Lautarii, Artist of the People, celebrates his 60th birthday today.

He was born on 18 November 1958, in village of Glinjeni, Falesti district. After graduating Culture School Elena Sarbu in Soroca (1976 – 1977), the Institute of Arts G. Musicescu in Chisinau (1987 – 1993).

Since 1980 he has been a soloist of folk music Orchestra Lautarii, directed by master Nicolae Botgros. She recorded the CDs Lume, draga lume, Inima, la poarta ta, etc. In 2000, he was awarded the honorary title of Master of Arts, and in December 2010, when Lautarii Orchestra turned 40 – the Artist of the People.

Nicolae Cibotaru is known to the meloman audience through several famous songs he launched. There are just a few of them: Floarea infloreste o data, Teiule, frunza rotata, Azi e nunta – n sat la noi, La casa cu grinzi batrane, Ce – ai facut, mandro, cu mine, Am ramas flacau batran, Of, of, dorule greu, Omagiu lui Nicolae Sulac.

In an interview, Nicolae Ciubotaru mentioned that he has been always looking for new songs. "I am always thinking of the song. I am saddened, however, at the fact that our radio and TV stations often propagate the non – value. Unfortunately, some young performers make commercial, but cheap songs in terms of artistic, bad taste. The artist, if he is an artist, must be demanding of himself and respect his audience, interpret only authentic, good quality songs. The song must remain for future generations, but this does not happen with easy songs," said performer of Orchestra Lautarii.

Nicolae Ciubotaru has participated in several festivals and folk music shows organised in Moldova and Romania.
