Chisinau, 02 October /MOLDPRES/ – The compulsory autovehicle insurance policies for domestic liability (RCA) and Green Card insurance policies deared from 01 October, according to a previous decision of the Board of Directors of the National Financial Market Commission (CNPF), throughout which the base premium was increased.

For mandatory RCA, the base premium was increased from MDL 735 to MDL 760 and for mandatory foreign car insurance Green Card – from €35 to €38 for Zone 1 (Ukraine, Belarus), from €215 to €260 for Zone 2 (Ukraine, Belarus and Russia), and for Zone 3, which includes the Green Card System countries, the base premium rose from €563 to €580.

The data provided by the insurance companies for the first half of 2017 reveal that the premium for compulsory civil liability insurance actually paid amounted to MDL 561.6 or MDL 173.4 less compared to the base premium. THE CNPF experts explain this difference by applying the bonus-malus system, but also the different prices required by insurance companies.

According to the CNFF data, the first green card for Zone 1 was €31 in the first half of 2017 or €4 less than the basic one, for Zone 2 – €181 (less by €34) and for Zone 3 – €382, the amount being €181 lower compared to the base premium. "In fact, following the application of the coefficients, the sums lower than the basic premiums calculated according to the statistical and actuarial bases are paid in average," states the Financial Market Supervisory Authority.

The Moldovan insurers sold 143,000 green card policies and 320,000 RCA policies in the first six months of 2017.
