Deputy Prime Minister calls for full mobilization to maintain national road network
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea held a working meeting today with representatives of the National Roads Administration (AND) and of the joint-stock road companies in the country. During the meeting, the official ordered the intensification of maintenance and cleaning works on the national road infrastructure.
The official requested the implementation of an intervention plan for all national road sections, setting several priorities.
“We are focusing on general cleaning and sanitation, including the removal of residual anti-skid material used during the cold season, cleaning the shoulders and areas adjacent to the carriageways. Current repairs and the inspection of every kilometer of road are also in focus, along with carrying out the necessary repairs to ensure traffic safety, in the context of the increased vehicle flow expected during the Easter holidays,” said Vladimir Bolea.
According to the established schedule, in the August–September period, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, together with those of AND, will conduct on-site visits. The purpose of these direct inspections is to assess the actual intervention capacity of each enterprise for the upcoming cold season.
Currently, AND manages 5,993 km of national roads, including 631 km of express roads, 2,011 km of republican roads and 3,350 km of regional roads.
