Good news for Moldova on both banks of Prut River: four new bridges to be built
Chisinau, Jan 10 /MOLDPRES/- Ionel Scrioșteanu, State Secretary at the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced today that SC LIKE CONSULTING SRL is winner for the elaboration of the Feasibility Study for four new road bridges over the Prut, as follows: Costești (MD) - Stânca (RO); Leova (MD) - Bumbăta (RO); Leca (MD) - Fălciu (RO); Bărboieni (MD) - Răducăneni (RO), and the elaboration process will last 12 months.
"Good news for Moldova on both sides of the Prut. It concerns a new bridge Stânca (RO) - Costești (MD), the location of which will be on the territory of Botoșani county and Râșcani district, south of the current customs point, which operates on DN29E; a new bridge Bumbăta (RO) - Leova (MD), the location of which will be in eastern Romania, in Vaslui county and in south-western Moldova, in Leova district; new bridge Fălciu (RO) - Leca (MD), which will be located in Vaslui County and Cantemir District; new bridge Răducăneni (RO) - Bărboieni (MD), which will be located in the east of Romania, in Iași County and in the west of the Republic of Moldova, in Nisporeni District", explains the official from Bucharest.
According to Scrioșteanu, the total estimated value for the implementation of the first stage of the design of the four bridges over the Prut is 1,100,000 lei (RON) without VAT, and the source of financing is provided from the state budget. The deadline for the feasibility study is 12 months.
At least the following technical-economic indicators will be implemented: new road bridge; connecting road to the existing infrastructure; border control point.
"The connecting roads will ensure connectivity both with the existing road infrastructure and with other major infrastructure projects in Romania, at various stages of implementation, in the Moldavan region, such as: the #A8 Târgu Neamț - Iași - Ungheni, Unirii highway, part of the TEN-T Core (Central) Corridor and the high-speed roads Tișița-Albița, Brăila-Focșani, and Brăila-Galați DX. The construction of these bridges over the Prut will lead to: the elimination of bottlenecks at border crossing points; the increase of transport capacity between the two countries; the connectivity of the Republic of Moldova with the European TEN-T transport networks; the smooth and optimized flow of goods transport with trucks to be operated in Constanta," the source estimates.
"We have already rehabilitated the first bridge over the Prut after the Revolution, Galati (RO) - Giurgiulești (MD) and we have also started the procedures for the rehabilitation of bridges: Albița (RO) - Leuseni (MD), and the works involve the demolition of the old bridge and reconstruction of the new 4-lane bridge - Sculeni (RO) - Sculeni (MD); Oancea (RO) - Cahul (MD). We are also in the process of elaborating the technical design and we will start the construction of the first highway-level bridge over the Prut, Ungheni (RO) - Ungheni (MD), part of the #A8 Highway project, which will also have a border crossing point, interconnecting the road infrastructure between both countries: Târgu Mureș - Iași - Ungheni highway - state border (on Romanian territory) and National Road R1 Chișinău - Ungheni - border with Romania (on the territory of the Republic of Moldova)", Scrioșteanu said.
