Investments for local development
Local communities across the country will benefit from new development investments. The Government today approved the supplementation of the Single Programming Document with 115 new projects, which will enable the modernization of local infrastructure.
Of the total 115 projects, 99 target the expansion of public nursery services under the National Program “Public Nursery Services: Employed Parents, Children in Nurseries”, while the other 16 projects provide for ensuring the necessary co-financing for investment projects funded from external assistance sources.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea said at the Government meeting that the total value of the proposed local projects exceeds 587 million lei, of which almost 259 million lei are allocated from the National Regional Development Fund.
“We propose updating the SPD for the years 2025–2027 so as to include new investments aimed at developing localities throughout the country. More precisely, we propose the inclusion of 115 local development projects. Among these, 99 target the expansion of public nursery services under the National Program ‘Public Nursery Services: Employed Parents, Children in Nurseries’, while another 16 projects provide for ensuring the necessary co-financing for investment projects financed from external assistance sources. At the same time, the inclusion is proposed of an important regional project that will ensure the connection of the municipality of Chișinău and several localities in the Strășeni and Călărași districts to a safe water source. Meanwhile, 20 projects that can no longer be implemented for technical and administrative reasons will be removed from the national program. The total value of the proposed local projects exceeds 587 million lei, of which almost 259 million lei are allocated from the National Regional Development Fund. The regional water supply project is worth 23.6 million euros, and the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova is 17.6 million euros. Through these investments, we continue to develop local infrastructure, extend access to quality public services, and improve living conditions for citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” said Vladimir Bolea.
According to the project’s explanatory note, the approval for financing of 115 local development projects will help stimulate local economic development, improve the quality of life in communities, and create the necessary conditions for the establishment and functioning of public nursery groups. At the same time, these investments will strengthen the capacity of local public administration authorities to provide quality public services in an equitable and efficient manner, with lasting positive effects on the development of localities.
The Single Programming Document is a medium-term planning document for the implementation of the National Regional Development Strategy and represents the summary document of regional operational programs, including the list of priority regional and local development projects selected on the basis of calls for proposals organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
