Higher scholarships for students starting 1 September
Student scholarships will increase by about 40% starting September 1, 2026. This is stipulated in a draft decision approved today by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The highest scholarships will be granted to students in Education Sciences and Medicine, who will receive scholarships of 4,565 lei. They will be followed by young people studying in the STEM and STEAM fields.
"On the eve of the 2026 admission session, we come with good news for young people. We are increasing scholarships for our students by approximately 40%, and for some specialties significantly more. The highest scholarships will be granted to young people studying Education Sciences and Medicine. Their scholarships will reach 4,565 lei per month. They will be followed by students enrolled in STEM and STEAM specialties, meaning Architecture, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, IT and many others. Here the scholarships will increase up to 2,855 lei. Next are those in Agriculture, with 2,280 lei, and all other students whose scholarships also increase by 40%, up to 1,905 lei, if they have a category I scholarship," said Minister Dan Perciun at the Government meeting.
The initiative also provides for an increase in the minimum grade average required to obtain a scholarship, which will rise to 7, while the average required for a category I scholarship will be 8.5.
"At the same time, the draft also provides for an increase in the minimum grade average required to obtain a scholarship, because in the end we are talking about a merit scholarship, which must therefore be correlated with academic performance. The minimum average will increase to 7, while the average required for a category I scholarship will be 8.5," Dan Perciun added.
At the same time, the Government is also increasing the social scholarship.
University admissions will begin on July 27 and will continue until the end of August. Applications can be submitted online on the platform eadmitere.gov.md.
