Traffic restrictions for trucks in Romania

The movement of vehicles with a maximum authorized total mass of over 7.5 tons is restricted today, until 20:00, on several sections of national roads, expressways and motorways in Romania. The measure is applied due to heatwave temperatures.

According to the Customs Service, the restrictions do not apply to vehicles transporting perishable goods, live animals, and empty tankers.

“Currently, trucks that have crossed through the Leușeni–Albița border crossing point are parked in the control area parking lot, while those that have crossed through the Sculeni border crossing point are parked on Romanian territory, in a parking lot near the border crossing point, until the traffic restrictions are lifted,” the customs authority announced.

Given that a Red Heat Code has also been issued in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the Customs Service recommends that carriers plan their routes and itineraries in advance to avoid waiting in the border area during the restrictions.
