Moldovan wines won 64 medals at competition in Romania
Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan wines were awarded 54 Gold Medals and 10 Silver Medals at one of the most important International Wine Competitions in Eastern Europe, ICWB Vinarium, held in Romania under the auspices of the International Organization of Vine and Wine and the International Federation of Grand Wine Competitions.
Moldova's participation in this contest was made possible with the support of the National Office of Vine and Wine. Our country participated in the competition with 166 samples, out of 850 from 12 countries around the world.
According to director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Gheorghe Arpentin, in the post-pandemic period it is extremely important for winemakers to adjust to new realities. ”Therefore, the competitions and tastings held online are a suitable solution for appreciating the work of Moldovan winemakers gathered under the country wine brand – Moldovan wine, A living legend. The first awards obtained in a competition for this region honor us a lot and are an encouragement for the wine sector, which has been severely hit by the effects of the pandemic ", said Arpentin.
This year's edition of ICWB Vinarium was distinguished by the way in which the judging of over 850 samples entered in the competition took place.
Statistics show that over 85% of wines made in our country are sold in foreign markets, and Romania ranks first among countries importing Moldovan wines.
