Natural gas prices recorded sharp decline in Europe on Wednesday, reaching lowest level of last five weeks

Natural gas prices recorded a sharp decline in Europe on Wednesday, reaching the lowest level of the last five weeks. It comes in the context of the announced ceasefire in the Middle East.

Director of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) Constantin Borosan announced this morning that the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) exchange in the Netherlands opened about 18% cheaper compared to yesterday.

“Today, the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) exchange in the Netherlands opened about 18% cheaper compared to yesterday, or by approximately 9.5 EUR/MWh, equivalent to about 100 EUR/thousand m3, lower. Prices for transactions for the following delivery months have decreased to the same level of around 44 EUR/MWh,” said Constantin Borosan.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that he has agreed on a two-week ceasefire with Iran, shortly before the deadline expired. After this announcement, global oil prices dropped sharply, while stock markets rose.
