Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - More safety is provided in the railway transport, through the reduction of the risks of accidents and incidents. The government today approved clear-cut rules which will improve the process of issuance of safety certificates for the railway enterprises.

The certificates will be issued by the Railway Agency following the assessment of the capacity of the railway company to fulfill the safety requirements.

Thus, to get access to infrastructure, the railway enterprises will submit the application on the release or renewal of the certificate through single desk, which will simplify the process of its getting. The safety certificates issued or renewed will be valid for a five-year period.

If the enterprise does not observe the safety requirements or there are major risks identified following inspections, the Railway Agency can decide the suspension or withdrawal of the safety certificate.

The implementation of the Regulation will ensure the development of a modern and safe railway infrastructure, adjusted to the European standards.
