Safety rules and standards for Moldovan passenger ships to be aligned with European ones
Safety norms and standards for Moldovan passenger ships will be aligned with European ones. Parliament voted in the first reading a draft law to this effect.
The document was set up by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and transposes into national legislation the provisions of the European Parliament and EU Council Directive on the safety of passenger ships.
It establishes strict technical specifications on the construction of ships, their stability, technical equipment, electrical systems, fire protection measures and crew rescue procedures.
Ships that meet the requirements set by law will receive a safety certificate, valid for one year and subject to periodic renewal.
