European Union integration means more than just security, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Doina Nistor said during Pe Față TV show. According to the official, joining the European Union is not only a guarantee for the security of the Republic of Moldova but also an essential economic opportunity for the country's development.

"How do we grow the economy? First of all, we need to have access to the market. The European Union market, I think we all understand, is a large, secure market that appreciates quality, and for our entrepreneurs, it's important to have access to the EU market," emphasized Doina Nistor.

The Minister mentioned that economic integration into the EU involves aligning with European quality standards.

"We transpose the acquis communautaire, which means we can produce to standards similar to those in the European Union. This means we are integrating into a market that appreciates quality," she said.

Nistor pointed out that Moldova's exports to the European Union have doubled in recent years, proving the potential of the European market for the national economy.

"We have doubled our exports to the European Union in recent years. This means more profitable companies, stronger companies, and ultimately, better-paid jobs. As strong companies mean well-paid jobs for our citizens," the Minister said.

Referring to the level of European legislation transposition, the official mentioned that the Republic of Moldova is in a favorable position.

"We are at a medium to advanced level. We don't have much left. We are the best in class, as our colleagues in Brussels say because we have a smart and dedicated team. Additionally, we have the support of associations and the business environment," declared Doina Nistor.

She added that alignment with European industrial standards is already advanced, providing predictability for investors.

"We integrate into the European market before accession. This is very positive because the same quality standards, both in the Republic of Moldova and in the European Union, mean more mutual trade and more investments," the official said.

The European Union is the main trading partner of the Republic of Moldova, with most Moldovan exports directed to the EU - about 65-66%. The most important product categories exported to the EU include machinery and electrical appliances, food products (fruits, vegetables, cereals) and textiles.
