Moldovan PM pays working visit to Giurgiulesti International Freeport
Chisinau, June 5 / MOLDPRES /- The actions to be taken to streamline port activities and protect the interests of domestic producers were discussed today during Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița's visit to Giurgiulesti International Freeport (PILG), the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Recently, there has been an intensification of activity in the port - the volume of exports of goods has increased 3 times, and the number of applications has increased by about 400%. This confirms the important role of PILG as a trading platform for exporters and importers in our country. In this regard, the Prime Minister stressed the need to identify concrete measures that would help increase port capacity, with a focus on expanding the PILG and supporting the development of this regional logistics hub.
"With the increase in demand, we need to see how to invest so that the port can meet the needs that are currently, but also how to increase state revenues. At the same time, we must prepare for the autumn and now take all the necessary decisions to offer agricultural producers the opportunity to export their products to regional and international markets, in advantageous conditions and as operational as possible, "said Natalia Gavrilița.
The Prime Minister also referred to the importance of resolving the legal issues related to the transparent and efficient management of the port, as well as the need to develop the Cahul-Giurgiulesti route.
