
Moldovan president attends 30th anniversary of SIS creation
Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu participated in an event on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Day of the State Security Body Worker, which is marked today.
The presidential press service told the agency that the head of state wished health and success to all SIS staff who do their job correctly and with dedication. At the same time, Maia Sandu mentioned that the intelligence officers must be able to keep up with the challenges of the time, and this objective can be achieved through a qualitative reform and adequate endowment of the Service.
The President stressed the central role of the Intelligence and Security Service in countering the classic and hybrid threats facing the country, and highlighted corruption as the main risk to national security. At the same time, the head of state spoke about the need for a complex assessment of the security sector, with the identification of system vulnerabilities, and the reform of the Service, in order to strengthen the institutional capacities.
Maia Sandu reconfirmed openness to contribute to the reform of the Intelligence and Security Service, so that it will be a strong, efficient institution that will meet the demands of the time and expectations of the country's citizens.
