
Moldovan president congratulates citizens, thanks presidents of Baltic Countries, on visit to Chisinau, for strong support provided to Moldova
Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 27 August congratulated the citizens on Moldova’s Independence Day, the presidential press service has reported.
In her message, the head of state stressed that there was always the option to give up and lose the courage; yet, the citizens choose to get up, no matter how difficult it is, for a future in peace and well-being.
„We choose to work for our future. We persevere for our children. We choose the hope and life. We believe in the strength of our nation,’’ the Moldovan president said.
On the Independence Day, Moldova was visited by the presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. ‘’In crucial moments, friends mutually support and this visit is a clear signal of the support for Moldova,’’ the head of state said.
Maia Sandu reminded that the Baltic Countries, just as Moldova, had fought for freedom and a European future. Now, the Baltic States mark the 20th anniversary of their membership in the European Union – a path fulfilled with resoluteness and courage.
„Moldova has the chance to join this European family. We are resolute not to miss any opportunity, in order to ensure a future in peace and well-being,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.
Also during their visit to Chisinau on 27 August, the three Baltic leaders signed a joined declaration, thereby affirming, once again, their support for Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
