Moldovan president hands honorary diplomas to more pupils participating in world Olympiads
Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met more young people who had represented Moldova at various competitions held globally. The head of state congratulated pupils who had participated in Olympiads on the performances achieved and, as a token of gratitude, she awarded them one honorary diploma each, the presidential press service has reported.
„I was proud to greet more pupils who participated in Olympiads who, due to their effort, managed to achieve outstanding results at international contests. I know that, behind each result, there are hundreds of hours of work – and they must be rewarded,’’ the Moldovan president said. As a token of gratitude, the head of state handed an Honorary Diploma each to those five pupils who won gold at the category Innovation and Engineering at the World Robotics Olympiad FIRST Global Challenge - Cristian Bragarenco, Sanda Bostan, Nicolae Țurcanu, Vladimir Corduneanu and Mihai Eșanu. At the same time, Maia Sandu stressed that, due to the Robotics course, introduced in over 200 schools from Moldova starting from 2014, more and more young people from Moldova would embrace the science of future and would turn the country more modern.
Victor Vorona, who got the Mention of Honour at the World Informatics Olympiad, Stefan Nicov, who won a silver medal at the World Physics Olympiad and Iulia Teleuca, who got a bronze medal at the World Chemistry Olympiad, were awarded Honorary Diplomas as well.
„I offer congratulations to the mentors and teachers who were able to discover and cultivate in the Olympic children curiosity for knowledge and innovation, as well as to the families of these young people, which support them unconditionally. The passion of these children for technologies and sciences will contribute to the creation of a new generation of researchers who, along with colleagues from other countries, will work to solve the most pressing global problems,’’ the head of state added.
