Moldovan president has farewell meeting with European Union's Ambassador

President Maia Sandu has met European Union Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks, at the conclusion of his mandate.

During this period, the country has made historic strides on the path to European integration: submitting the application for EU membership in March 2022, getting the status of candidate country in June 2022 and opening of the accession negotiations in December 2023.

President Maia Sandu emphasized the European Union's constant support in modernizing Moldova and in managing the challenges of recent years. The projects implemented with EU’s support have contributed to infrastructure’s development, greater energy security, economic opportunities and improving the citizens' quality of life.

In conclusion, the head of state wished Ambassador Mažeiks success in his new responsibilities and reiterated that the European integration stayed Moldova's most important project.
