Canteen of Onisifor Ghibu lyceum from central Moldova city modernized with investment of 4 million lei
The canteen of the Onisifor Ghibu Lyceum from the central Orhei city has been fully renovated, creating optimal conditions for the nutrition of more than 1,200 pupils and 65 teachers at the institution. The works cost approximately 4 million lei.
The modernization included design services, repair of electrical networks, setting of a ventilation system, full repair and rearrangement of food storage and preparation spaces, endowment with modern kitchen furniture and appliances, tableware, as well as the installation of a lift for transporting products.
The financial resources needed for the renovation were allocated under the Moldova National Partnership for Education, with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova, the Ministry of Education and Research, Kaufland Moldova and The Moldova Project NGO.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun emphasized that the modernization of this canteen was not just about infrastructure, but about creating an environment where children feel safe, healthy and motivated to learn.
‘’For us, at The Moldova Project, this project means more than the modernization of a canteen – it means caring for the health and future of children. We coordinated each stage, from planning to final endowment with equipment, so that pupils can enjoy healthy meals in a safe, modern and friendly space. We firmly believe that a well-nourished child is ready to learn, dream and reach their potential. Our children deserve the best, and the results of this project are tangible proof of this belief,’’ said Victoria Morozov, President of The Moldova Project Association.
Starting from September 1, 2025, all middle school pupils will benefit from free meals in schools, based on the decision of Moldova’s government. On this purpose, the cabinet has allocated 200 million lei through the Budget Plus project for the modernization of school canteens.
