
Hungary - eighth largest trade partner of Moldova in EU
The Republic of Hungary ranks 13th among Moldova's trade partners worldwide and 8th among the member states of the European Union.
In 2024, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to 203.4 million dollars, of which Moldovan exports to Hungary reached 33.4 million dollars, according to data from the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. Trade with Hungary accounts for 1.6% of the country's total trade.
The main exported products are chairs - 13 million dollars; electrical transformers - 6.8 million dollars; fruit or nut juices - 3.9 million dollars (+257.9% compared to 2023); apricots, cherries, sour cherries, peaches (+322.6%); grapes - (+234.7%).
Imports from Hungary amounted to 170 million dollars in 2024, down by 6.2% compared to 2023. The main imported products are wires and cables, medicines, automobiles, monitors and projectors and petroleum oils.
According to data from the Public Services Agency, there are 37 companies with Hungarian capital registered in the Republic of Moldova, with investments in share capital totaling about 3.2 million lei. By the volume of investments in share capital, Hungary ranks 56th among the main investors in the Republic of Moldova.
The first place in the top main trade partners of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union is occupied by Romania. Germany ranks second, Italy third, Poland fourth, the Czech Republic fifth, Bulgaria sixth, and France seventh.
