
Second stage of programme A Doctor for You launched in Moldova
Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Women from rural settlements will benefit from free of charge mammography testing, within the second stage of the programme, A Doctor for You, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The new programme of breast cancer screening was launched today, in order to prevent oncological diseases and inform the society about the risk groups and treatments applied. To this end, three mobile equipments have been bought, which will go to Leova, Rezina, Straseni, Soldanesti, Cantemir and Nisporeni on the period October – December 2018. Also, a new radiography vehicle was purchased, in order to provide a better coverage of the settlements with free of charge radiographic examinations.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip today discussed with physicians involved in the carrying out of the programme, A Doctor for You, the results achieved in those three months after the project’s launch and thanked them for involvement. “I saw that people are quite contented. About 20,000 people have been already examined. I am glad that we have managed to prevent more serious diseases. There are a lot of people rescued through this campaign,” Pavel Filip said. The physicians said that patients were satisfied with the services provided within the campaign and spoke out for extending it, with the involvement of specialists in the territory, in order to improve the quality of assistance offered.
In discussions, the PM referred also the reforms in the health sector: public health reform, reform of the primary and hospital medical assistance. “The campaign, A Doctor for You is, in fact, an intermediary action till we manage to carry through the reforms in the health sector and can provide qualitative services,” the prime minister noted.
Starting from 1 August 2018, joint teams of physicians have been providing consultations to 5,154 people. At the same time, 2,483 children from rural settlements benefited from stomatological medical services and another 10,180 people made free of charge radiological examinations. The campaign, A Doctor for You, was launched at initiative by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in order to enhance the access to medical services in villages. Mobile teams of specialized physicians will continue moving to settlements to examine people for free.
