USAID to further implement projects in more sectors in Moldova
Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari met Deputy Assistant Administrator Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at U.S. Agency for International Development Jonathan Katz on 19 April, on the occasion of his visit to Chisinau, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
Morari informed Katz about the implementation level of reform agenda in accordance with the commitments assumed within the roadmap, unveiling the main results and priorities for next period, as well as a brief analysis of impact. Also, Morari thanked for the financial assistance offered by USAID via different projects implemented in Moldova.
For his part, Katz reiterated USAID’s interest to continue implementing the projects under development, mentioning the importance of comprehensive reforms in the financial-banking sector, justice, public administration and fight against corruption in order to increase the country’s economy.
The U.S. Government provides financial assistance to Moldova via USAID since 1992 in order to back the democratic transition of the country. Through the technical assistance programmes, the American people invested over 1 billion dollars in Moldova over the last 23 years, the funds being meant to consolidate the Moldovan democratic institutions, the rule of law, to improve investment climate and increase economic growth of the country.
